Our Story
June of 2008, co-owners Brian Stoddard and Mick Bowdler have a conversation with a member of the Hopewell Area Soccer Association in which the dream that would be Keystone Soccer Academy is born. The conversation secures the clubs home in Hopewell. The next three months are spent forming a partnership with US Club Soccer, incorporating the buisness, selling the Keystone Soccer Academy to communities to the local communities. However, before any of that could take place a name had to be determined. After much back and forth between the owners, the name keystone was chosen to reflect the new roots established in the keystone state. Soccer Academy was decided on to represent the vision of development first. Once the name is decided Mick a designer by day gets busy drawing up our first logo. A club is born and a dream is realized...
August 2008, the first Academies open in Hopewell, Freedom, and Montour, Pennsylvania
November 2008, the club fields the very first teams, a high school aged boys team and a high school aged girls team. The teams are both based in East Liverpool, Ohio and made up of Ohio born players.
April 2009, Keystone Soccer Academy, high school girls team compete in the Northern Ohio cup in Lodi, Ohio and win the clubs first trophy.
August 2009, KSA fields the first team that is made up of Pennsylvania born players. The U13 girls at the time team nicknamed the Stoners (representing the Pennsylvania Keystone) is based in Hopewell, PA.
April 2010, the club fields the first team of players trained and selected from our Academies started in '08. The team would be later nicknamed the Ninety Niners.
October 2010, KSA competes in the CASA Season Finally qualifying three of the five teams four the finals and winning two trophies.
December 2010, Keystone Soccer Academy rebrands. KSA designates two branches of the club, the origanal Academy retains the name Keystone Soccer Academy, which encompasses the Academies and teams U12 and younger. The second and newest branch of the club is named Keystone Premiere, this branch encompasses U13 and older teams. Along with the rebranding new logos and a color scheme are developed.
